Cave or Camel Crickets

Do They Cause Damage?

They do not cause any structural damage.

Do I Have An Infestation?

Actually seeing the live or dead insect is the only way you will be alerted to their presence. Outdoors, these crickets are found in cool, moist areas such as woodpiles, under stones, landscape ties and leaf debris. They are primarily active at night, hiding during the day. Indoors they can be found in cool, moist areas such as basements, crawl spaces and garages. Hot dry weather and the approach of winter will often drive large numbers of them into structures.

What Can Masters Touch Do?

Treatments can be applied to areas where they are present, however a better approach is to eliminate the conditions that they find favorable. Installing a high quality dehumidifier that can KEEP humidity levels at or below 45% can make conditions unfavorable for them.

How Can You Help?

Reducing moisture levels will go a long way. Cleaning up leaf litter around the exterior perimeter can help as well.
